Melbourne and regional Victoria have never been so well-connected. V/Line trains and coaches reach almost every corner of the state, so you can leave your car at home and simply sit back and enjoy your trip into Melbourne.
On public transport it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. You can watch the beautiful sunsets from the train window, read the paper, talk, snooze, sketch, daydream and make memories along the way.
Coaches are a convenient way to travel, often connecting you to the nearest regional train station or in some cases coming straight into Melbourne. You can trundle with your suitcase to the nearest V/Line coach stop and the friendly coach driver will do the rest, delivering you and your luggage safely, and in time for your connecting train.
V/Line train services vary depending on your origin station, but all have a friendly conductor on board to assist you during your travels. Some services have reserved seating including first and economy class while others have unreserved seating. Café bars with refreshments are available on some long-distance journeys. To check what is available on your service, simply plan your journey on the V/Line website or speak to a staff member at any of V/Line’s 49 staffed stations around the network.
Most V/Line services arrive at Southern Cross Station, at which point you can catch a tram, train or bus to destinations throughout Melbourne, to begin your ultimate adventure. Learn more about Melbourne's connected transport network.
